As a high school freshman, Averie Howard is like many typical 15 year-olds. She loves spending time with her friends, sings on her school’s choral team, enjoys shopping and unfortunately struggles with acne.
“I was so embarrassed to be seen in public,” she recalls of the redness and breakouts she had on her nose, chin and cheek bones. “I always felt something on my face.”
Averie isn’t alone. Several studies have shown that people who suffer from acne experience low self-esteem, social withdrawal and depression.*
She tried Neutrogena Acne Wash but wasn’t satisfied with the results.
“It never worked for me. It just made an oily shine on my face. It never got down to the pores.”
“I started feeling more clean and my face felt more fresh. It felt really good. I saw the redness start to disappear a little more. It was like the blemishes were still there but they weren’t as noticeable.”
After two months on the products, Averie’s face was completely clear.
“Not only were all my blemishes gone, I had more color to my face. I stopped wearing all my makeup because I was so confident.”
A 15 year-old who struggles with acne foregoes her makeup?!
Averie is actually describing what thousands of Rodan & Fields’ product-users have experienced. These regimens literally heal the lipid barrier of your skin and change the cell composition in the epidermis. But since there is no cure for acne, the Unblemish regimen must be used regularly.
When her family moved from Louisiana to Georgia last August, Averie ran out of her Unblemish regimen. Her acne reappeared just as she was starting a new school as the new kid.
“I was nervous to join a group and meet people, because of my skin,” she recalls.
But once she was back on the Unblemish regimen, her face cleared up and she gained the confidence to audition for chorus and try out for the swim team. Averie also started using the Macro Exfoliator each week and got rid of 5 million dead skin cells in only 5 minutes. This only made her skin glow more since she was eliminating the dead skin cells that often clog pores and contribute to breakouts. Pretty soon, girls who were complete strangers would stop her in the hall at school, compliment her skin and ask if she used anything on her face.
“I think it’s one of the most important things that a teenager can have is good skin.”
Rodan & Fields skincare products didn’t just change Averie’s skin; they changed her life.
“I feel way better. I want to get out of the house more. I feel fresh and clean all the time with a clear face – I smile more.”
She also swims better.
“Having great skin – that’s been helping me out, feeling more confident in the water. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
